15 vie for top local entrepreneur award

International consultancy firm Ernst & Young has shortlisted 15 local businesspoeple for the final selection to get the Enterpreneur of The Year (EOY) award for 2003.
The firm said in a statement that an independent judge panel would sit together to choose one of the 15 as the recipient of the prestigious award.
The 15 individuals are Charles Saerang of PT Jamu Nyonya Meneer, Diah Sulasmo of PT Geoprolog Intiwijaya, Djonaedi Joesoef of PT Konimex, Gusti Terkelin Surbakti of PT Eka Sari Lorena, Harto Khusumo of PT Pelayaran Tempuran Mas Tbk., Harijanto of Dimension Footwear, Irwan S. Prajogo of PT Barindo Anggun Industry, Jaya Sukamto of PT Berri Indosari, Joko Susanto of PT Alfa Retailindo Tbk., Ken T. Sudarto of Matari Inc., Mohammad Nadjikh of PT Kelola Mina Laut, Rudi Wanandi of PT Asuransi Wahana Tata, Purdie E. Chandra of Primagama Group, Setyono Djuandi Darmono of PT Kawasan Industri Jababeka and Sunjoto Tanudjaja of PT Great River International Tbk.
"We are delighted that in its third year, the EOY program has been able to increase the participation of entrepreneurs from outside Jakarta. It shows that entrepreneurs are still achieving success throughout Indonesia," John Arnold, EOY program director for Indonesia, said in a statement.
The judge panel comprises Anh Dung Do of IPMI Graduate School of Business, former Minister of Mines and Energy Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, senior banker Gunarni Suworo, MS Sembiring of the Jakarta Stock Exchange and Purnomo Prawiro of Blue Bird Group.
The statement did not specify when the result of the final selection would be announced but it said the recipient of the award will join other top entrepreneurs from more than 30 countries for the annual World Entrepreneur of the Year awards in Monte Carlo in May 2004.
The EOF award was started in 1986 in the United States. Since then, the award has expanded to over 100 cities internationally in more than 30 countries.
