14 years sought for ecstasy dealers

BOGOR: Prosecutors at Cibinong District Court, West Java recommended on Monday a 14-year jail term for four suspects allegedly involved in the production of ecstasy pills in Jasinga, Bogor, West Java late last year.

Widodo, who headed the prosecution, said they found sufficient evidence that Bangkit Satrio, Bertje Albert Bessie, Tomo and Harjo, had assisted fugitive drug leader Hans Philip in producing thousands of ecstasy pills every day from 2001 to 2004.

He said that the four defendants had violated Articles 6 and 59 of Law No. 5/1997 on psychotropic substances as well as Article 56 of the Criminal Code.

"We have sufficient evidence to prove that all of them have been involved in making and using ecstasy pills," Widodo said. --JP
