KARAWACI CONGESTION: Hundreds of vehicles are locked in a massive
traffic jam at an intersection near the Karawaci gate for the
Jakarta-Merak toll road in Tangerang, west of here. Yesterday,
drivers were blaming the excessively heavy traffic congestion on
the absence of traffic policemen, the lack of discipline of the
other motorists and the poor planning of roads in the rapidly
growing residential area. Traffic jams are a common sight in
Karawaci during the morning rush hours.
