136 billboards torn down
JAKARTA (JP): The city administration yesterday tore down 136 billboards located in the city's five mayoralties, the head of the finance department, HA Wahab R., said yesterday.
Wahab said the move is aimed at improving administration procedures and discipline in setting up outdoor advertisements.
"The move is also intended to increase the city's income," he said, saying that more billboards will be torn down today.
Yesterday, billboards were removed from Jl. Yos Sudarso in North Jakarta, Antara reported.
Billboards will be torn down today along Jl. Mangga Besar and Jl. Gajah Mada, both in West Jakarta, and Jl. Jatinegara Barat and Jl. Bekasi Barat in East Jakarta, said Wahab. (jun)
