133 teachers vie for CSF awards

JAKARTA: Citibank Success Fund (CSF) and Hope Indonesia Foundation announced on Thursday the names of 133 teachers from Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang and Surabaya who are eligible to compete in a creative teaching competition.

"The CSF jury received a total of 987 proposals from teachers in the four cities," Hope country director Charles Ham said. "The figure is a 90 percent increase from last year and that showed the teachers' enthusiasm in joining this program."

The 133 teachers will have five months to implement their proposals on creative and fun teaching methods before the final round of appraisals takes place in January 2006.

The jury will pick the 10 best programs and award Rp 5 million (US$513) to each winning teacher and Rp 10 million to the schools.

The CSF was launched in 2003. -- JP
