1,300 traffic violations in 10 spots

JAKARTA: The police announced that at least 1,300 traffic violations had occurred in 10 trouble spots across the city, mostly committed by public transportation drivers, during a special traffic operation since May 13.

City police Traffic Division chief Sr. Comr. Sulistyo Ishak said 900 traffic violations had been committed by public transportation drivers.

"The violations range from going through red lights to disregarding traffic signs," said Sulistyo.

Sulistyo said some public transportation operators had been fined, while others had been told to stop operating.

Sulistyo said an average of 18,000 traffic violations per month were committed across the capital. --JP.
