1,300 participate in Yogya arts week

YOGYAKARTA: Some 1,300 university students from 23 provinces
are attending the sixth National Student Arts Week organized by
Gadjah Mada University.

The provinces participating in the festival, which started on
Monday, include Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Jambi,
Bengkulu, West Nusa Tenggara, Gorontalo, West Kalimantan, Central
Java, Jakarta and Bali.

The students will participate in various art competitions
including painting, caricature, photography, poster design,
dancing, singing, theater, poetry writing, and short story
writing.

A seminar on the performing arts has also been scheduled for
the six-day event, which will be held on nine campuses of state-
run and private universities or colleges in Yogyakarta. --JP
