13 teams to attend Equator Festival

PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: Representatives from 13 regencies and
municipalities in Kalimantan and Jakarta are slated to
participate in the Equator Earth Cultural Festival to be held in
Pontianak, West Kalimantan between Sept. 20 and Sept. 25.

The 13 teams of cultural performers consist of 12 teams from
12 regencies and municipalities on Borneo island and a team sent
by Museums and Culture Agency of West Jakarta municipality.

There should have been another team from Natuna regency, Riau
Islands province, but this government team had suddenly canceled
its participation due to "weather problems," said the director of
the West Kalimantan administration's Tourism and Culture Agency,
Rihat Natsir Silalahi.

The festival will be officially opened by Minister of Tourism
and Culture Jero Watjik on Tuesday. The 13 teams will present
cultural performance from their respective regions. -- Antara
