13 countries sign up for Indonesia Open

JAKARTA: Aside from host Indonesia, 12 other countries have
confirmed their participation in the US$170,000 Indonesia Open
badminton tournament, to be held from Dec. 15 to Dec. 19 at the
Gelora Bung Karno Tennis Indoor Stadium in Senayan, Central
Jakarta.

Badminton powerhouse China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan
and Singapore are among the participating Asian countries, while
Denmark, France, Wales, England and Russia will be coming from
the European front.

Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) secretary-general
Mangombar Ferdinand Siregar said he had not yet received the
exact number of shuttlers playing in the five-star tournament, as
the closing date for registration was still two weeks away.

Indonesia will send 42 shuttlers from its national training
center to the tourney. -- JP
