12 years sought for drug dealer

TANGERANG (JP): A prosecutor has demanded the district court sentence a Singaporean charged with smuggling Ecstasy pills to 12 years in prison and a fine of Rp 250 million (about US$30,000).

Yeo Wee Ming, 36, is on trial for smuggling the 14,480 pills into the country through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport last July.

Prosecutor Nurlisma Nasution told a court hearing Thursday that the defendant was apprehended by the police while trying to smuggle the blue and purple pills in two suitcases.

She said Yeo entered the country on a Thai Airways flight from Paris to Jakarta. (41/ivy)
