12 Puncak villas to be demolished

JAKARTA (JP): Twelve more villas in Puncak, West Java, will be
torn down by the end of the month, a spokesman for the Bogor
regency administration said.

The villas are located in Cibeureum village, Cisarua, Denny M.
Moechry, as reported by Antara, said yesterday.

On Thursday Attorney General Singgih and State Minister of
Environment Sarwono Kusumaatmadja pledged their support for
tougher action by provincial and regional officials on violations
of land and building rules.

The villas to be demolished either lack permits or have
permits for productive land.

"We will first deliver warnings," Denny said, "to give owners
a chance to tear down the buildings themselves." (anr)
