110 local planes flight worthy
JAKARTA: The government has declared 100 aircraft as airworthy for serving domestic routes during the Ramadhan, Christmas and New Year holiday season.
Director General for Air Transportation Moch. Alwi said that, over a three-day period, transport authorities had conducted checks on aircraft run by airlines serving domestic routes.
"The ramp checks have concluded that the aircraft are reliable and airworthy," Alwi said during an inspection at Soekarno-Hatta international airport on Wednesday.
The airlines who had their fleets checked were Garuda, Merpati, Bouroq, Mandala, Bali Air, Airfast, Lion Air and Star Air. Yet to undergo ramp checks are aircraft belonging to Kartika Air, Awair and Bayu Air.
"Bayu Air will undergo checks in Malaysia in the next two weeks," he said. --Antara
