11 killed in road accident

SEMARANG (JP): Eleven people died and five other sustained
serious injuries on Sunday when a bus hit several vehicles after
its brakes failed in Wonosobo, Central Java.

The accident occurred when the brakes of the Sari Agung Tour
bus failed upon reaching the village of Candimulyo Kertek in
Wonosobo, Antara reported.

The bus, driven by Haryanto, hit two motorcycles coming from
the opposite direction and collided with a van in front of it.
The van was thrown onto the village meeting hall where it landed
upside down.

The collision did not stop the bus, which continued to roll
on, eventually crashing into a pickup truck, dragging the vehicle
another 70 meters before coming to a halt at a safety barrier,
some 200 meters from the location of the initial collision.
