100 million for midwives
LAHAT, South Sumatra: The United States will provide Rp 100 million (US$46,000) in medical equipment for hundreds of midwives in rural villages.
Lahat regent Solichin Daud was quoted by Antara as saying yesterday that the assistance would be made available to midwives posted in villages where a large portion of their residents take part in voluntary self-financed family planning schemes.
He said better-equipped midwives are expected to be able to encourage more couples of reproductive age to take part in the family planning program. (pan)
