10 years for killing dentist

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Two teenagers were sentenced to 10 years imprisonment each yesterday for killing a local dentist, Antara reported.

The two youths, one 16 years old and the other 17, were found guilty of premeditated murder by the Medan District Court for the murder of 53-year-old dentist James Ismunandar Halim last October.

According to court testimony, the youths had gone to the dentist for treatment, but instead of paying the Rp 10,000 bill, they tried to rob the dentist.

They later stabbed James 50 times in spite of his plea to take the Rp 400,000 money and some jewelry in the till. (emb)
