10 more people die of dengue

BANDUNG: Ten people have died of dengue since January this year, in which the figures served as a wake up call for officials on the danger of the dengue outbreak.

Fatimah Rusmiyati, an official at the West Java provincial administration's health office, said that five died in Indramayu regency, one in Majalengka regency, one in Cianjur regency, one in Depok mayoralty and two in Bogor mayoralty.

The dengue outbreak happened as the rainy season hit West Java province currently.

Last year entirely, 201 residents of West Java died of dengue, out of total 8,907 residents infected with the disease.

In order to fight the outbreak, the West Java province will intensify fumigation and clean up of places suspected of being breeding grounds for Aedes Aegepty mosquito, the carrier of the dengue. -- JP
