10 judges receive Granat award

TANGERANG: Ten of the 23 judges at the Tangerang District court received awards from the National Antidrug Movement (Granat) on Monday as a token of appreciation for the maximum penalties they had handed down to drug smugglers in Tangerang.

Granat Tangerang chairman Ganda Saputra Wijaya said on Tuesday that in conjunction with its third anniversary, Granat had bestowed its highest award on 12 people considered to have a good record in fighting drug abusers.

He said the 10 judges were: Ade Komarudin, Prim Haryadi, Sutoto Hadi, Suprapto, M. Soleh Mokoginta, Soehartoyo, Zainal Arifin, Agus Bidiarto, Joseph Ziraluo and Lucya Usmani.

Two other recipients were Benny Panjaitan, musician and ex- singer of popular group Panbers, and Subroto, former minister of Mines and Energy.

"We hope that many other judges will follow the example set by the Tangerang District court judges in their strict stance on drug abuse," Ganda said. --JP
