10 C. Java racers get IMI award

SEMARANG (JP): Ten Central Java motor racers were given awards by the Indonesian Motorsports Association (IMI) for their national achievements in the association's national congress last month.

The Central Java chapter of IMI chairman Wing Wibisono named the awardees as Hery Agung (drag race), Sinya Haryanto and Herman Marzuki (gocart), Kukrit SW (slalom seeded B and general slalom), Robby Sanger (slalom for beginners), Yudha Prasetya (junior motorcross 80cc), Arma Yoga Pribadi (Junior Age Group 14 in motorcross 80cc), Denny Orlando (grade A motorcross 25 cc), Sukandar and Arsis (track rally).

"The award has motivated us to produce more national racers," he said, adding that the sport would be officially featured in the 2004 National Games (PON) in Palembang, South Sumatra.

"I hope the racers will positively respond to this information. We hope that motorracing would yield more medals," he said.

Wing also said that starting next year, all motor racing events, either local, national or regional, must insure their spectators against injury. "We have signed a MoU with the Jasaraharja Putra life insurance firm to realize this plan." (har)
