Vietnam's train derails; 11 killed

VIETNAM: At least 11 people were killed and around 200 injured when an express train derailed in central Vietnam on Saturday, state media reported.

At least 30 of the injured passengers were in a critical condition, the VietNamNet online newspaper quoted hospital officials as saying in Phu Loc district in the central province of Thua Thien Hue, 650 km (404 miles) south of Hanoi.

The train left Hanoi on Friday with 500 passengers and 29 staff for a 1,700-km (1060-mile) journey to the commercial hub of Ho Chi Minh City. -- Reuters
