Vietnam launches 2nd stock exchange
HANOI: Vietnam's second stock exchange opened in Hanoi on Tuesday, offering shares in state-owned enterprises' (SOEs) as well as bonds and other financial instruments.
"Stocks to be issued in the bourse to the public must follow the principles of equality, public (awareness) and transparency ... and the Hanoi Securities Trading Center is well prepared for this," said President of the State Securites Commission (SSC), Tran Xuan Ha, at the opening ceremony.
Shares worth 15 billion dong (US$1 million) in a factory under the Post and Telecommunications Corporation were offered for sale to the public on the first day.
On Thursday, shares of a hydro-electric power plant under the Vietnam Electricity Corp. worth over 430 billion dong would also be sold to the public. -- AFP
