From: Tempo InteractiveTEMPO Interactive, Makassar:Taiwan, through the Chamber of Trade and Industry, is considering investing in South Sulawesi. “I just found out that South Sulawesi is the biggest seaweed producer in the world. I’m interested and the meeting could be the beginning of an investment,” said Taiwan trade representative, Andrew Li-Yan Hsia, when meeting South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo yesterday.
Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo said he had offered Taiwan the opportunity to invest in any sector. “We have gold, nickel, galena, marble and cement for mining. We also have an overstock of rice up to 2 million tons, 1.5 million tons of corn, the third-biggest cacao producer and the biggest seaweed production in Indonesia. We offer all of this to Taiwan, especially those who want to invest in processing industry,” he said.
He said he hoped that Taiwan would take up the opportunities in the province. “Investing in South Sulawesi is the same as investing in 12 provinces in Indonesia because South Sulawesi has a superior position,” said Syahrul.
