TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The State-owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Mustafa Abubakar rejects foreign investment in the defense industries, especially those considered strategically important. The industries he meant are weapons and ammunition producer PT Pindad, ship builder PT PAL, explosive manufacturer PT Dahana, and the National Space Agency (LAN). ”We cannot allow that,” said Mustafa at the hearing with the Defense Commission of the House of Representatives (DPR), to discuss the Defense Industry Revitalization Bill, yesterday.

According to Mustafa, foreign investment might be allowed for other supporting industries, such as infrastructure and the supply of raw materials.
