RP to do more to fight corruption
MANILA: The Philippine government vowed on Wednesday to step up its efforts to fight corruption after a survey of foreign businesspeople in Asia ranked the country as the second most corrupt nation in the region.
While stressing that the government has successfully implemented various programs to curb graft, presidential spokesman Ignacio Bunye admitted that more needs to be done.
"It is not as if the government is not doing anything about corruption," he said in a radio interview.
"But while we have accomplished a lot, this survey should serve as a reminder that we still have a lot of work to do."
"The important thing is that this campaign should always be an ongoing, continuous practice," he added. -- DPA
