Rod Stewart to marry at Eiffel Tower
BRITAIN: Veteran rocker Rod Stewart chose Paris's best loved landmark to pop the question to his girlfriend Penny Lancaster, who will become his third wife, the Sun newspaper reported on Saturday.
During a romantic trip to the French capital by private jet, Stewart, invited Penny, who will be 34 on Tuesday, and her parents to a lavish dinner in the glitzy restaurant on the second level of the Eiffel tower.
And it was over dinner, she told the tabloid, that the 60-year-old singer went down on one knee in time-honored fashion to propose marriage with the words: "I love you. Will you marry me?" and presented her with a little box.
"I was stunned, threw my arms around him and burst into tears," she told the paper. When she opened the box, she found "the most amazing princess cut diamond engagement ring".
The couple have been together for five years and will marry this summer or at Christmas, the Sun said. -- AFP
