Bowe to continue boxing comeback
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah: Former world heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe plans to continue his boxing comeback here later in March and hopes for another bout next month in his hometown of Washington.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported on Tuesday that Bowe, 38, would fight Willie Chapman of nearby Ogden here on March 25 even as Bowe awaits word from officials in Washington about licensing for a possible April 23 bout.
Arena officials here announced the Bowe-Chapman bout although Utah Athletic Commission officials have not given final approval, the same permission Bowe would need from the Washington D.C. Boxing Commission.
Bowe, 41-1 with 33 knockouts, had been retired for almost eight years before making a comeback last September, stopping fellow American Marcus Rhode in the second round on an Oklahoma reservation for Native Americans. --AFP
