Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan has said that\nsustainable environmental management is capable of linking economic\ndevelopment and climate with communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cSustainable environmental management is a bridge that connects\neconomic development and communities,\u201d said Minister Zulkifli in Jakarta\non Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the man popularly known as Zulhas said the government is\nconsistently strengthening its commitment to tackling and preventing the\nclimate crisis.<\/p>\n
Various strategic measures have been undertaken, ranging from the\npreparation of the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to the\ndrafting of strategic regulations such as the Carbon Unit Registry\nSystem (SRUK).<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding the economic value of carbon, we have been able to\ncomplete the carbon unit registry system, or SRUK \u2014 the first in the\nworld to be recognised globally. The supporting ministerial regulations\nhave also been completed,\u201d said the Coordinating Minister for Food.<\/p>\n
In addition, he said the government is also promoting climate- and\nenvironment-based financing.<\/p>\n
One of the funding streams managed by the Environmental Fund\nManagement Agency (BPDLH) originates from the Green Climate Fund (GCF)\ndonor institution through the Results-Based Payment (RBP) scheme, as\nwell as support from the Government of Norway through the Results-Based\nContribution (RBC) scheme.<\/p>\n
Indonesia made history as the first country in the Asia-Pacific to\nsecure RBP funding from the GCF amounting to 103.78 million US dollars\nfor achieving emission reductions from deforestation and forest\ndegradation of 20.25 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent.<\/p>\n
The RBP REDD+ GCF project consists of three main outputs. Outputs 1\nand 3 have been running since 2021 and will conclude in 2025.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Output 2 will continue to be implemented until 2030 for\nbeneficiaries at the national and subnational levels, with the Ministry\nof Forestry and the Ministry of Environment serving as the lead\nagencies.<\/p>\n
\u201cBPDLH is a green development financing instrument to support\nIndonesia\u2019s environmental sustainability vision,\u201d said Minister\nZulhas.<\/p>\n
Previously, 24 provinces had accessed the funding. Lampung Province\nwas the first province to successfully complete programme\nimplementation.<\/p>\n
In 2026, 10 proposals from 10 provinces have been assessed and are in\nthe preparation stage for programme implementation, before a ceremonial\nsigning of cooperation for the disbursement of RBP funds to the 10\nprovinces takes place.<\/p>\n
Currently, 34 provinces have accessed RBP REDD+ GCF Output 2 funding,\nwith a total commitment of Rp761 billion.
