        "content": "<p>South Lampung (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs\nZulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) stated that the government will develop a\npeople\u2019s plantation breeding centre in South Lampung Regency, Lampung\nProvince, to support the strengthening of the agricultural sector and\nnational food security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBesides the food crop sector, the central government also plans to\ndevelop a people\u2019s plantation breeding centre in the Karangsari area,\nKetapang Subdistrict, South Lampung Regency,\u201d said Zulkifli Hasan during\na farmers\u2019 consultation in Tetaan Village, Penengahan Subdistrict, South\nLampung, on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the programme will focus on developing superior\nseeds for plantation commodities such as coconut, coffee, cocoa, cloves,\npepper, and aren to increase production yields as well as community\nincomes.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the development of this breeding centre is expected\nto improve the quality and productivity of agricultural and livestock\nproducts in the area while strengthening national food security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want farmers to smile because their incomes are good. The seeds\nmust be good, and the yields must also be good. The government wants the\npeople to become increasingly prosperous,\u201d said Zulkifli Hasan.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that the government is currently continuing to\nencourage increased food production through various strategic\nprogrammes, including the provision of superior seeds, improvements in\nfertiliser distribution, and the construction of agricultural\ninfrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Zulkifli Hasan added that Lampung is one of the priority areas for\nfood sector development because it is considered to have an important\ncontribution to national production of maize, rice, and horticultural\ncommodities.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, South Lampung Regent Radityo Egi Pratama stated that the\nlocal government welcomes the plan to develop the breeding centre and\nhopes that the programme can open new job opportunities and improve the\neconomy of the community in South Lampung.<\/p>\n<p>With the establishment of this breeding centre, the government hopes\nthat South Lampung can become one of the centres for developing superior\nseeds capable of supplying the needs of various regions in\nIndonesia.<\/p>",
