The cooperative is projected to become the primary\noff-taker for community harvests in villages.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the KDKMP National Seminar at the Sasana Kriya Building\nin Jakarta on Thursday, the minister, who is familiarly known as Zulhas,\nassured that the government is siding with the people and will not allow\nfarmers to suffer losses due to price fluctuations. He stated that if\nmarket prices fall, the KDKMP will step in to purchase the farmers\u2019\nproduce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the price of the harvest falls below 6,500, the Merah Putih\nVillage Cooperative will buy it. Farmers must not be harmed,\u201d Zulhas\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>A similar policy will also be applied to the fisheries sector through\nthe Merah Putih fishermen\u2019s cooperatives.
