The Coordinating Minister for Food of the Republic of Indonesia,\nZulkifli Hasan (Zulhas), stated that his office is prioritising the\naccelerated completion of the Presidential Regulation (Perpres)\nregarding the Governance of the Merah Putih Village\/Sub-district\nCooperatives (KDKMP).<\/p>\n
This aims to provide a legal foundation so that the cooperatives can\nimmediately begin operations and provide tangible benefits to village\ncommunities. According to Zulhas, KDKMP must not stop at being mere\nphysical buildings, but must quickly function as an integrated village\neconomic centre.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we are prioritising is the swift completion of the KDKMP\ngovernance Presidential Regulation, so that the cooperatives do not just\nexist physically, but truly operate and provide benefits to the\ncommunity,\u201d said Zulhas in a written statement on Saturday\n(5\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
He expressed this while serving as a speaker at the KDKMP National\nSeminar at the Bandar Lampung Mayor\u2019s Office on Friday (4\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
Zulhas noted that KDKMP will perform a strategic function as a\nprovider of community needs and as an off-taker for local products. The\ncooperatives can serve as a place for the community to obtain basic\nfoodstuffs, subsidised fertilisers, LPG, SPHP rice, medicines, and even\nsavings and loan services.<\/p>\n
KDKMP is also directed to absorb the results of agriculture,\nfisheries, livestock, and plantations from the community side of\nproduction. With the support of warehouses and cold storage, production\nyields can be stored properly while simultaneously helping to maintain\nprice stability for farmers and producers.<\/p>\n
\u201cKDKity must ensure the economy continues to circulate in the\nvillage. Farmers buy fertiliser through the cooperative, their harvests\nare absorbed by the cooperative, and the community receives services and\ndaily necessities through the cooperative,\u201d Zulhas explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe economic benefits return to the members,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Zulhas emphasised that once the governance Presidential Regulation is\nfinalised, the government will push for the acceleration of physical\nconstruction, the operationalisation of KDKMP, and the strengthening of\nhuman resources and governance to ensure the cooperatives can operate\neffectively and accountably.<\/p>\n
