        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli\nHasan (Zulhas) called the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN),\nDadan Hindayana, while inspecting food prices at Palmerah Market in West\nJakarta on Wednesday morning (13\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>To Dadan, Zulhas requested that in the coming days, the MBG menu\nshould use eggs so that the price of this commodity at the farm level\ncould rise in line with the Producer Reference Purchase Price (HAP).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr Dadan, you have the authority here. This is the egg price, sir,\nbelow HAP. There is a request from the layer farmers, BGN should use\neggs in the next few days, sir, so that the price can match HAP,\u201d said\nZulhas at Palmerah Market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease help, sir, so that the layer farmers can keep smiling,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, he also received complaints from layer chicken\nfarmers because the farm-gate egg price was only Rp 20,000 per kilogram,\nbelow the producer HAP of Rp 26,500 per kilogram.<\/p>\n<p>Zulhas said that when egg prices are low, the public or consumers do\nfeel happy.<\/p>\n<p>However, that situation serves as a danger alarm for farmers because\nthey incur losses.<\/p>\n<p>Amid farm-gate egg prices below HAP, farmers also face high feed\nprices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are hit twice: the price at the farm, usually they receive Rp\n23,000, now some receive Rp 20,000. That means a loss. But corn prices\nare rising, feed prices are rising,\u201d explained Zulhas.<\/p>\n<p>The General Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) said that\nthe drop in egg prices, which delights consumers, is only temporary.<\/p>\n<p>Because that condition has the potential to cause farmers to go\nbankrupt and close their businesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause if farmers close, it\u2019s just a matter of time before prices\nrise again. That means supply and demand,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The plunge in egg prices is partly caused by abundant stock that is\nnot balanced with market demand.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, Zulhas asked Dadan to use eggs as the MBG menu twice a\nweek.<\/p>",
