Yuwono Susetyo remains silent on kidnapping<\/p>\n

Yuwono Susetyo, chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of
\nStruggle (PDI Perjungan) in Ngawi, East Java, who was found tied
\nup in a forest in Karanganyar, Central Java, two weeks ago
\nremains silent about his kidnapping and abductors.<\/p>\n
Adj. Sr. Comr. Harunantyo, spokesman for the East Java Police,
\nsaid the police had tried to gain detailed information about the
\nkidnapping but Yuwono, who is undergoing medical treatment at Dr.
\nSutomo General Hospital in Surabaya, has refused to discuss the
\nincident.<\/p>\n
"Yuwono still remains silent and, so far, has refused to give
\nany details about his kidnapping and the kidnappers," he told The
\nJakarta Post here over the weekend.<\/p>\n
He said the police were waiting for the appropriate time to
\nquestion him.<\/p>\n
He added that Yuwono was talkative with relatives who had
\naccompanied him to the hospital over the last two weeks.<\/p>\n
Harunantyo said further that Yuwono was also one of nine
\nsuspects in the attack on a house belonging to Muhyi Effendy, a
\nmember of the Lasjkar Jihad.<\/p>\n
Other suspects in the case are, among others, Novar Effendy
\nSuseto, Edi Sunarta, Totok Harsono and Agung Wahyudi, all of whom
\nare in police custody.<\/p>\n
Of 102 Lasjkar Jihad members detained by the police, 66 have
\nbeen released and the remaining 36 will undergo further
\ninvestigation in connection with the raid on gambling activities
\nduring the fasting month of Ramadhan and Yuwono's abduction.<\/p>\n
"The police will compare other witnesses' statements with
\nYuwono's, and if the latter remains silent it will certainly be
\nhis loss," he said.<\/p>\n
