Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights,\nImmigration, and Correctional Affairs, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, stated that\nthe growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in daily life is a\nfactor that must be considered in the formulation of policies.<\/p>\n
While receiving an audience from the US-ASEAN Business Council\n(USABC) in Jakarta on Tuesday, he noted that such developments should be\nmanaged while ensuring protection for creators.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe progression of the era encourages the use of AI in daily life,\nbut at the same time, protection for creators remains a very important\naspect. The interests of platforms, creators, and the public must be\nbalanced,\u201d said Yusril.<\/p>\n
Therefore, in the discussion of the Draft Copyright Law, he said, the\ngovernment needs to consider the balance of interests between service\nproviders, technology companies, creators, and the public as\nbeneficiaries.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he added, legal certainty is a vital aspect in\nmaintaining the sustainability of investment.<\/p>\n
According to him, the Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human\nDiscretion, Immigration, and Correctional Affairs serves as a forum for\nconsultation and communication, bringing the government together with\nvarious stakeholders regarding policies and regulations, including the\nbusiness world.<\/p>\n
Yusril also conveyed the importance of considering the interests of\nvarious parties in drafting regulations, particularly those related to\ntechnological developments and the digital economy.<\/p>\n
On that occasion, the Chief Country Representative of the US-ASEAN\nBusiness Council Indonesia, Nugraheni Utami, expressed appreciation for\nthe openness of the Coordinating Ministry in building communication with\nthe United States business community.<\/p>\n
USABC views the dialogue between the government and the business\nworld as essential for providing an understanding of policy direction\nwhile conveying industry perspectives and relevant international\npractices.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope to continue sharing industry perspectives and relevant\ninternational practices as policies and regulations develop in\nIndonesia,\u201d said Nugraheni.<\/p>\n
The audience was attended not only by USABC but also by\nrepresentatives from several global technology companies to discuss\npolicy developments and regulations in the fields of the digital\neconomy, data utilisation, AI, cybersecurity, and legal certainty for\nbusiness and investment.<\/p>\n
The event served as a space for dialogue between the government and\nthe private sector to exchange views on several draft regulations,\nincluding the Draft Copyright Law, the Draft One Data Indonesia Law, and\nthe Draft Cybersecurity and Resilience Law.<\/p>\n
The Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and\nCorrectional Affairs will subsequently review the feedback provided and\nprepare recommendations for relevant ministries and agencies.<\/p>\n
