The suspect, Taufik Hidayat (30), has been officially detained in\nconnection with the case of confinement and severe physical abuse\nagainst a woman identified by the initials YTR (29). The victim has\nsuffered total loss of vision and permanent physical disability as a\nresult of the torture.<\/p>\n
The arrest has revealed a series of systematic acts of violence\nperpetrated by Taufik against YTR at four different locations since\n2024. Taufik and YTR first met in 2024 through a dating application.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey met and became close. They then lived together in a boarding\nhouse,\u201d stated the West Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General\nRudi Setiawan, during a press conference at the West Java Regional\nPolice Headquarters in Bandung on Friday (26\/06\/2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on witness and victim statements, this violence began when\nboth resided in a boarding house in the Cicaheum area, Bandung City,\nfrom May to September 2024,\u201d Rudi added.<\/p>\n
During that initial period, the victim was frequently abused by\nTaufik inside their room. \u201cThe violence experienced by the victim\nincluded being beaten and having cigarettes extinguished on her body,\u201d\nsaid Rudi.<\/p>\n
The violence escalated when they moved to a second location, not far\nfrom the first boarding house, from September 2024 to January 2025. At\nthis location, according to Rudi, the perpetrator struck the victim\u2019s\neye, leading to blindness.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this boarding house, the victim\u2019s left eye was struck with an\niron bar, which caused her to lose her sight,\u201d said Rudi.<\/p>\n
Rudi explained that the suspect and the victim were eventually\nevicted from the second boarding house due to frequent disputes. They\nsubsequently moved to the Cilengkrang area, Bandung Regency, in February\n2025. It was at this third location that the victim\u2019s condition became\neven more dire.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccording to the victim, her right eye was struck with a helmet\nuntil she could no longer see at all. Additionally, the victim\u2019s knee\nwas slashed with a sharp object, making it difficult for her to walk,\u201d\nRudi stated.<\/p>\n
