        "content": "<p>The Amungme and Kamoro Community Development Foundation (YPMAK)\nscholarship programme is preparing human resources from Mimika, Central\nPapua, through higher education so they can return and contribute to\nregional development. Secretary of the YPMAK Management Kristianus Ukago\nin Timika on Tuesday said the foundation has dispatched 13 scholarship\nrecipients to UPN Veteran University in Yogyakarta. \u201cYPMAK gave UPN the\nauthority to determine which students passed according to the\nestablished standards. So these 13 students were selected from a pool of\n247 candidates,\u201d Kristianus said. He said the 13 students were accepted\ninto several study programmes at UPN, namely Mining Engineering,\nGeological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Metallurgical\nEngineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Geophysical Engineering. The\nprogramme is one of the efforts to prepare young Mimika natives with\nexpertise in engineering fields that can support the human resource\nneeds for the development of Central Papua. He hopes the scholarship\nrecipients will make the most of the opportunity by complying with\nacademic regulations, coaching, and mentoring throughout their\neducation. \u201cWe hope there will be results that we can later see in\nTimika. We believe the campus will continue to educate and provide good\nmentoring to our children,\u201d he said. He noted that Hendro Widjanarko\nfrom the Alumni and Cooperation Student Affairs Division of UPN Veteran\nYogyakarta said the university is ready to provide mentoring so the\nstudents can complete their education and return to Papua. \u201cWe agreed\nthat all these children must graduate and all must return to Papua. I\nwant them to return in four or five years and build Timika,\u201d Hendro\nsaid. Hendro said the scholarship students are equipped not only with\nacademic skills but also non-academic or soft skills, including national\ndefence values. UPN has also prepared academic advisors and facilities\nto help students face difficulties during their studies. He asked the\nstudents to maintain their primary focus while in Yogyakarta, which is\nto complete their education on target so they can return and contribute\nto the development of their home region.<\/p>",
