        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi)\nMeutya Hafid officially announced that the digital platform YouTube,\nunder the umbrella of technology giant Google, has finally complied with\nKemkomdigi\u2019s directive to restrict child users under 16 years old on its\nplatform. This step aligns with the spirit of Government Regulation\nNo.\u00a017 of 2025 on Child Protection Governance in the Management of\nElectronic Systems (PP Tunas). \u201cWe wish to convey that today the\nGovernment appreciates that YouTube, under Google, has submitted a\nletter of compliance. The compliance letter was directly handed over to\nthe Director General of Digital Space Supervision (Dirjen Wasdig),\u201d said\nMeutya during a press conference at the Ministry of Komdigi office in\nJakarta on Wednesday. Meutya stated that YouTube\u2019s commitment to\ncomplying with PP Tunas has been implemented by amending its community\nguidelines to affirm that the digital platform will eliminate accounts\nfor users under 16 years old. To the Government, YouTube has also\ncommitted to gradually deactivating accounts owned by users 16 years old\nand below in the future. Additionally, they will eliminate\nadvertisements targeting children and teenagers. With YouTube\u2019s\ncompliance with PP Tunas announced today, it means there are now seven\ndigital platforms following Indonesia\u2019s steps to safeguard the digital\nspace for children. \u201cThe seven platforms in total start from X, Bigo\nLive, Meta which consists of IG, Facebook, Threads; TikTok, and now\nYouTube. All of them have given commitments of compliance to work\ntogether with the government to protect children in Indonesia in the\ndigital realm,\u201d said Meutya. PP Tunas has been in effect in Indonesia\nsince 28 March 2026. In the initial implementation phase, eight\nplatforms were requested to immediately comply with this regulation,\nincluding X, Bigo Live, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, YouTube,\nand Roblox. The latest data on Wednesday (22\/4) shows that seven\nplatforms have fully complied with PP Tunas, namely X, Bigo Live,\nInstagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, and YouTube.
