        "content": "<p>Youths loot Samarinda shops<\/p>\n<p>SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: Dozens of youths looted and<br>\ndestroyed a number of shops at Pinang Bebaris Shopping Center<br>\nhere yesterday, causing panic and prompting shop owners across<br>\nthe city to quickly close their businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Antara reported that witnesses believed the looters had broken<br>\naway from a group of about 100 people staging a rally at the<br>\nprovincial legislative assembly building, where Minister of Home<br>\nAffairs Syarwan Hamid was swearing in the new governor, Suwarna.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses said they were taken by surprise when youths,<br>\nbetween 15 and 25 years old, began pelting stones at stores and<br>\nlooting Eka Raya store and the Sumber Sari Mini-Market.<\/p>\n<p>\"I lost millions of rupiah today,\" said Predy, owner of Eka<br>\nRaya store.<\/p>\n<p>\"They took clothes, shoes and hats from my store. Most of my<br>\nwindows were also shattered.\"<\/p>\n<p>The owner of the Sumber Sari Mini-Market, Joko Susanto, said<br>\nthe looters damaged his shop first before looting it.<\/p>\n<p>Security personnel from the Samarinda Military Command were<br>\ndispatched to restore order.<\/p>\n<p>A military officer was hurt during the rally at the provincial<br>\nlegislative assembly building.<\/p>",
