Youth forum to be held at Senayan<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A large-scale youth's festival called Gebyar
\nOrang Muda 1995, consisting of various competitions, discussions
\nand promotional activities, will be held in Senayan Stadium in
\nCentral Jakarta between Oct. 10 and 16.<\/p>\n
Ferry Sal Eldin, chairman of the organizing committee, said
\nover the weekend that the festival will feature various
\nactivities.<\/p>\n
\"This event will not consist of only light activities but also
\ndialog forums among youths, discussing a number of latest issues,
\nincluding the AIDS problem, globalization and music,\" said Ferry,
\nwho is also the chairman of the Indonesian Successors Struggle
\nAssociation.<\/p>\n
The discussions will feature a number of noted speakers who
\nare concerned with youth problems, including well-known
\npsychologist Sarlito Wirawan, chairman of Muhammadiyah
\norganization Amien Rais and rock singer Ikang Fauzi.<\/p>\n
Sarlito, for example, will speak at the Sex and AIDS
\ndiscussion, Amien Rais on Culture and Universality Value and
\nIkang Fauzi on Youth Music Trend, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
The festival will also feature a number of competitions for
\nyoungsters, including poetry reading, disco and rap music,
\ndangdut music and comedies, he said.<\/p>\n
Ferry said the festival will hold exhibitions and bazaars to
\npromote a wide variety of products, involving not only
\nrepresentatives of government institutions and agencies but also
\na number of sidewalk vendors.<\/p>\n
He said that it is hoped the festival will be attended by as
\nmany young people as possible as it is open to all those
\ninterested in the program. The tickets are relatively reasonable,
\nhe added.<\/p>\n
According to Ferry, young people who are interested in
\nparticipating in the program are warmly welcome. Registration at
\nthe committee's secretariat will be closed on Sept. 30, he said.
