Young adults song contests to be held<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The 1996 Young Adults Songwriting and Singing
\nContest was announced by a foundation here Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The newly established Foundation for Music and Art announced
\nat the Jamz pub that the contests are open to any Indonesian
\ncitizen between 13 and 25 years old.<\/p>\n
The foundation was established last year in order to promote
\nart and music among young adults.<\/p>\n
\"We find that there is a lack of concern among the public in
\nthis respect,\" Firmansyah Bachtiar, chairman of the foundation,
\ntold reporters.<\/p>\n
Those wishing to participate in the songwriting contest should
\nsubmit a copy of their ID card, a color photograph and their demo
\ncassette to the committee. A Rp 5,000 (US$2.1) administration fee
\nis also required.<\/p>\n
Participants of singing contest should send a copy of their ID
\ncard, a color photograph, their demo cassette and a Rp 10,000
\n(US$4.2) administration fee.<\/p>\n
The committee's address is Jl. Senayan No. 4, Kebayoran Baru,
\nSouth Jakarta. In addition, the above materials can also be sent
\nto Jl. Cipaku II No. 15, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Registration ends on June 15. The winners will be announced in
\nthe middle of July and the winning songs and singers will be
\npresented in a program broadcast by the SCTV TV channel.<\/p>\n
The finalists will compete for trophies and up to Rp 10
\nmillion ($4,301) in prize money.<\/p>\n
Aside from the songwriting and singing contests, the
\nfoundation has also planned several other activities for this
\nyear, including seminars and painting exhibitions.<\/p>\n
The foundation staffers include musicians, music critics and
\nshow organizers. The staffers include Imran Amir, Irianti
\nErningpraja, Purwacaraka, Bens Leo, Eddy Susilo. The foundation's
