Yogyakarta to host EATOF meet<\/p>\n
YOGYAKARTA: Seven out of nine founding provinces of the East
\nAsia Inter-Regional Forum (EATOF) have confirmed their attendance
\nat the EATOF annual meeting to be held in Yogyakarta from Sept.9
\nto 12, 2001.<\/p>\n
Ronny Sugiantoro, coordinator of the communication division of
\nthe meeting's organizing committee, told The Jakarta Post here on
\nWednesday that the two founding provinces of EATOF - Sarawak
\n(Malaysia) and Primorsky (Russia) - had sent official letters to
\nconfirm the sending of their delegations.<\/p>\n
\"The provinces of Gangwon (Korea), Cebu (Philippines), Tuv
\n(Mongolia), Chiang Mai (Thailand), Tottori (Japan) and Jillin
\n(China) confirmed their attendance at the meeting. Each of the
\nprovinces has sent a list of their delegates,\" Ronny said.<\/p>\n
The committee expects some 60 participants in the meeting.<\/p>\n
\"The participants will consist of government officials,
\nrepresentatives of tourism-related professions and academics.
\nThey will focus on the enhancement of cooperation among EATOF
\nmembers and the promotion of EATOF member provinces as global
\ntourist destinations,\" said Ronny.<\/p>\n
Ronny also said that Yogyakarta Governor Sultan Hamengkubuwono
\nX was expected to open the meeting, while State Minister of
\nCulture and Tourism I Gde Ardhika was scheduled to close it.<\/p>\n
EATOF was established in a meeting hosted by Gangwon Province
\n(Korea) in September 2000. The nine participating provinces were
\nrecognized as EATOF initiators.<\/p>\n
The province of Cebu, in the Philippines will host the EATOF
