        "content": "<p>The Yogyakarta city government is studying river-based tourism\nmanagement at Maron River in Pacitan Regency, East Java, particularly\nthe boat technology considered suitable for application on shallow\nrivers in Yogyakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor of Yogyakarta Hasto Wardoyo and his delegation visited the\nMaron River Tourism Site in Dersono Village, Pringkuku District,\nPacitan, on Thursday to observe first-hand the management of the\ndestination known as \u2018The Amazon of Java\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We want to replicate Maron\u2019s tourism activities, especially\nregarding the boats and their technology,\u2019 said Hasto.<\/p>\n<p>He said the tourist boat technology used at Maron River is\ninteresting to study because its engine system can adjust to water\ndepth.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So this boat is suitable for application on rivers in Yogyakarta\nwhich tend to be shallow,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Hasto conveyed this interest to Pacitan Regent Indrata Nur Bayuaji\nwhile reviewing tourism activities at Maron River.<\/p>\n<p>Pacitan Regent Indrata Nur Bayuaji said tourism is one of the sectors\nrelied upon to support the regional economy, including through the\ndevelopment of Maron River tourism.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Pacitan\u2019s tourism is complete; the famous ones are beaches and\nrivers, but there are also special interest tourism destinations,\u2019 said\nIndrata.<\/p>\n<p>Maron River was pioneered by the local community since 2012 and began\noperating as a tourism destination in 2014 through the management of a\ntourism awareness group (Pokdarwis).<\/p>\n<p>Currently there are around 130 tourist boats at Maron River, all\nowned by local residents. The boats use various propulsion technologies,\nranging from fuel oil and gas to electricity.<\/p>",
