Yogya to host health symposium<\/p>\n
YOGYAKARTA: Hundreds of medical professionals will attend a two-
\nday symposium on cardiovascular disease to be held in Yogyakarta
\non June 10 and June 11.<\/p>\n
The symposium is being organized by Dr. Sardjito Hospital,
\nGadjah Mada University's School of Medicine and the Yogyakarta
\nbranch of the Association of Cardiovascular Specialists.<\/p>\n
The symposium will present experts and
\nspecialists from the country's leading universities,
\nincluding the University of Indonesia in Jakarta and Gadjah Mada
\nUniversity in Yogyakarta.<\/p>\n
According to cardiovascular specialist Dr. Budi Yuli
\nSetianto of Dr. Sardjito Hospital, the 1st Yogyakarta Cardiology
\nUpdate 2005, as the symposium is called, is
\naimed at improving the participants' knowledge to help them
\nbetter deal with cardiovascular cases.<\/p>\n
"The reason we see it as important to hold this symposium is
\nthe fact that cardiovascular disease is still the number one
\nkiller in the world, including in
\ndeveloping countries like Indonesia," Budi said here on
\nWednesday.<\/p>\n
According to Budi, the latest data showed that cardiovascular
\ndisease was responsible for nearly 25 percent of all deaths in
\nIndonesia in 1998. -- JP<\/p>",
