        "content": "<p>Yogya to auction off official cars<\/p>\n<p>YOGYAKARTA: In a bid to ensure transparency in the management of<br>\ngovernment assets, the Yogyakarta provincial government will<br>\norganize an open auction to sell 82 used official vehicles next<br>\nweek.<\/p>\n<p>The auction is scheduled for Feb. 26. However, many people<br>\nhave started to crowd the gubernatorial office compound since<br>\nMonday to take a close look at the vehicles on offer.<\/p>\n<p>\"We hope that with the auction, we will have a clean, fair and<br>\ntransparent sale of used official assets so that surprising<br>\nhappenings of the past will not recur in the future,\" said the<br>\nYogyakarta governor, Sultan Hamengkubuwono X.<\/p>\n<p>He was referring to corruption cases implicating former heads<br>\nof local government offices in connection with the sale of state<br>\nassets belonging to their offices.<\/p>\n<p>The governor said that through the auction, the provincial<br>\ngovernment would hopefully get better prices for the cars.<\/p>\n<p>Vehicles to be auctioned are 44 minibuses, 20 jeeps, eight<br>\npickups, eight sedans, one large bus and one large truck. --JP<\/p>",
