Yogya gets one-stop licensing office<\/p>\n
YOGYAKARTA: In a bid to provide better services to the community,
\nthe Yogyakarta municipal government is planning to establish a
\none-stop licensing office, where people can obtain the licenses
\nthey need to run businesses or carry out other activities in the
\nmunicipality.<\/p>\n
"I plan to make it the best, most luxurious, air-conditioned
\noffice building that the municipal government has, as it will be
\nour symbol of service.<\/p>\n
"It's OK by me if it's even better than the mayor's office,"
\nYogyakarta Major Herry Zudianto said here earlier this week.<\/p>\n
With the establishment of the office, he said, people would
\nnot need to go to a variety of offices to get different licenses
\nas at present, as all types of license, ranging from house-
\nbuilding permits to a variety of business licenses, can be
\nobtained at the same office.<\/p>\n
"That way, we hope to be able to provide the public with much-
\nimproved services," Herry said, adding that the office was
\nplanning to start operating soon this year.<\/p>\n
Herry added that many government officials had a misperception
\nregarding public services. They did not consider that the public
\ndeserved the best the government could offer.<\/p>\n
That explained why many offices that provided public services
\nusually had minimal facilities, even in Yogyakarta municipality,
\nwhich aims to become a city of trade and services.<\/p>\n
"I think it's time to change such a misguided perception,"
