YLBHI caretakers set up<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The Foundation of the Indonesian Legal Aid Institute
\n(YLBHI) has established a caretaker team to prepare for the
\nelection of its executive board members within six months.<\/p>\n
Expanding the membership of the YLBHI board of patrons and
\nestablishing the supervisory board are also part of the
\ncaretakers' job, said caretaker chairman Irianto Subiyakto on
\nTuesday.<\/p>\n
Key members of the caretaker team include Irianto, Haneda
\nSrilastoto as deputy chairman for internal affairs and
\nMappinawang as deputy chairman for operational affairs.<\/p>\n
They were helped by Munarman as coordinator of the civil-
\npolitical division, Poltak as coordinator of the natural
\nresources division, and Pungky as coordinator of the labor
\ndivision.<\/p>\n
\"Although we have been given six months to prepare the
\nelection of the new YLBHI executive board, we hope the election
\nof the definitive board can be implemented as soon as possible,\"
\nIrianto told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
The caretakers were established following an internal conflict
\nin one of the country's most respected nongovernmental
\norganizations.<\/p>\n
The conflict peaked with the resignation of YLBHI chairman
\nBambang Widjojanto and his secretary-general Munir from the
\norganization early this month.<\/p>\n
The conflict within the YLBHI escalated after the founders,
\nwho also act as the organization's board of patrons rejected the
\nboard of executives' proposal to change the organization from a
\nfoundation to a loose association. --JP<\/p>",
