        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 Several humanitarian events occurred across Indonesia\nthroughout Thursday, 26 February, including the Health Ministry\u2019s\naccelerated measles-rubella immunisation campaign in response to a\nforeign national contracting measles, and police assisting primary\nschool pupils in crossing Mount Semeru\u2019s cold lahar flows.<\/p>\n<p>Response to foreign national measles case: Health Ministry\naccelerates immunisation drive next week<\/p>\n<p>The Health Ministry announced it would intensify measles and rubella\n(MR) immunisation for preschool and kindergarten children beginning the\nfollowing week as a response to a notification from Australia regarding\na measles case involving a foreign national who had travelled to\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe conduct immunisation strengthening on a routine basis and MR\ncatch-up immunisation, particularly in areas with low coverage. We are\ndoing this. Secondly, we are providing additional MR immunisation in\nareas experiencing outbreaks in 2025-2026. This additional MR programme\nis a crash initiative,\u201d said Acting Director-General of Disease Control\nat the Health Ministry Andi Saguni in Jakarta, Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>To improve coverage in areas with low immunisation rates due to high\nvaccine refusal, the ministry sought to engage local governments,\ninfluential figures including religious leaders and professional\norganisations, to disseminate information about the importance of such\nimmunisation.<\/p>\n<p>National Nutrition Agency requests nutrition service units end\npartnerships with suppliers \u201cmarking up\u201d free nutrition meal programme\nmaterials<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik\nSudaryati Deyang, called on the Nutrition Service Fulfilment Units\n(SPPG) to terminate partnerships with suppliers increasing prices or\nmarking up raw materials for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme\nto obtain personal profit.<\/p>\n<p>Nanik made this statement in response to numerous reports from SPPG\nabout suppliers frequently marking up food raw material prices for the\nMBG kitchen programme. She reminded all SPPG personnel never to\ncompromise with suppliers applying fraudulent practices that could taint\nthe MBG programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemember! SPPG heads, financial supervisors, nutrition supervisors,\nnever agree to the demands, and certainly do not cooperate with SPPG\nsuppliers marking up food raw material prices for this MBG programme,\nespecially with poor quality food materials,\u201d she stated in an official\nstatement in Jakarta, Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Mount Semeru rainfall lahar tremors recorded for nearly four\nhours<\/p>\n<p>Rainfall lahar tremors at Mount Semeru in Lumajang District, East\nJava were recorded for nearly four hours due to heavy rain pounding\nJava\u2019s highest mountain on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the observation period on Thursday from 00.00-06.00 WIB, one\nlahar flow tremor was recorded with an amplitude of 17 mm and duration\nof 13,304 seconds or 3 hours 42 minutes,\u201d said Mount Semeru Observation\nPost Officer Sigit Rian Alfian in a written report received in\nLumajang.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to lahar tremors, seismic activity over the previous six\nhours also recorded 17 eruption\/explosion earthquakes with amplitudes of\n11-22 mm and durations of 65-104 seconds, three rockfall earthquakes\nwith amplitudes of 2-3 mm and durations of 33-40 seconds, and one tremor\nearthquake with an amplitude of 6 mm and duration of 51 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Police in Lumajang assist primary school pupils crossing Mount Semeru\ncold lahar<\/p>\n<p>Members of Candipuro Police Substation, Lumajang Police Resort,\ndirectly assisted students and residents in crossing the swift cold\nlahar flows in the Regoyo River located in Jugosari Village, Lumajang\nDistrict, East Java.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThree Candipuro Police Substation personnel took turns carrying\npupils from State Primary School No.\u00a003 Jugosari from Sumberlangsep\nHamlet whilst crossing the river to attend school,\u201d said Head of Public\nRelations Section at Lumajang Police Resort Ipda Suprapto in a written\nstatement received in Lumajang, Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, this was a precautionary measure following an\nearlier incident in which a female pupil was swept away by Mount\nSemeru\u2019s rainfall lahar whilst heading to school on Monday, 23\nFebruary.<\/p>",
