Yemen's human rights minister visits RI<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Yemen's Minister for Human Rights Amat al-Aleem Alsoswa
\nleft the country on Sunday after a three-day visit in which she
\nshared her country's experiences with Indonesia on dealing with
\nhuman rights issues.<\/p>\n
\"Yemen and Indonesia have so many things in common. The
\nmajority of both countries' population embrace Islam and both are
\nAsian countries with emerging democracies. Our minister for human
\nrights came to Indonesia to exchange Yemen's experiences with
\nIndonesia in the field,\" Yemen Ambassador to Indonesia Ahmed
\nSalem al-Wahishi told The Jakarta Post on Sunday.<\/p>\n
During her three-day visit to Indonesia, Alsoswa, who is also
\nYemen's first female minister -- met Minister of Justice and
\nHuman Rights Hamid Awaluddin, State Minister for Women's
\nEmpowerment Meutia Farida Hatta Swasono, Attorney General Abdul
\nRahman Saleh and members of the National Commission on Human
\nRights.<\/p>\n
Alsoswa, a former journalist, activist and diplomat, exchanged
\nthe draft of the planned memorandum of understanding (MoU) on
\nhuman rights with Hamid.<\/p>\n
\"The MoU will most probably be signed in August by both
\ncountries when they meet during a joint ministerial committee
\nmeeting,\" al-Wahishi said. -- JP<\/p>",
