Yayuk and Vis win du Maurier Open<\/p>\n
TORONTO (Agencies): Indonesia's Yayuk Basuki and Caroline Vis
\nof the Netherlands upset the second-seeded team of Nicole Arendt
\nand Manon Bollegraf of the Netherlands 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 at the du
\nMaurier Open on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Yayuk\/Vis, sixth seeded in the tournament, reached their
\nsecond title this year after winning the Acura Classic tournament
\nin Los Angeles, California, two weeks ago.<\/p>\n
The du Maurier Open and Acura Classic were the warm up
\ntournaments before the US Open, with the Atlanta tournament this
\nweek.<\/p>\n
The US Open, which is the last Grand Prix series after the
\nAustralia Open, the France Open and the Wimbledon, will take
\nplace in New York from Aug. 25 to Sept. 7.<\/p>\n
But Yayuk will have to work hard to realize her ambition to
\nmake the top 20 because she hasn't been successful in the US Open
\nin the last five years. Right now she is ranked 24th in the
\nworld.<\/p>\n
Former number one Monica Seles of the United States defeated
\nAnke Huber of Germany 6-2, 6-4 for her third straight title and
\nbagged US$ 150,000.<\/p>\n
Seles, who started the week ranked third on the WTA Tour, will
\nbe second to Martina Hingis when the next rankings are released.
\nHingis didn't play in the du Maurier because of visa problems.<\/p>\n
Seles hit 22 winners but added 28 unforced errors, while Huber
\nhad only 15 winners -- none in the second set -- and 34 unnecessary
\nmiscues, a gift Seles needed.<\/p>\n
Huber double-faulted eight times, the last one coming on match
\npoint -- a fitting end to a faulty final.<\/p>\n
