        "content": "<p>Jakarta - A member of the House of Representatives Commission III,\nSoedeson Tandra, believes that the Corruption Eradication Commission\n(KPK) must have objective and subjective reasons for shifting the\ndetention of former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas\nfrom a detention centre to house arrest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my view, it must be highly selective. There must be objective\nreasons. Objective reasons and subjective reasons,\u201d said Tandra when\ncontacted on Sunday (22\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>He gave an example that one strong reason for the KPK to designate\nsomeone as under house arrest or city detention is if the suspect has\nhealth problems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor instance, if someone is ill or has health issues and so on, it\u2019s\nallowed. It\u2019s a humanitarian reason, right,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The matter of house detention is also regulated in the Criminal\nProcedure Code (KUHAP).<\/p>\n<p>However, he reiterated that the KPK must be selective in granting\nhouse or city detention status.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my opinion, it\u2019s not usual. Otherwise, everyone will demand\nequality. If A is allowed, why not B, right,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Tandra urged the KPK to also consider the sense of\njustice in society, particularly in corruption cases.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe question is, is the KPK\u2019s action legally valid because it\u2019s\npermitted, but is that action appropriate, fair, or fitting,\u201d he\nremarked.<\/p>\n<p>In his statement, Budi explained that the request from Yaqut\u2019s family\nwas submitted on Tuesday (17\/3\/2026).
