Yamisa seen as illegal<\/p>\n
PAREPARE, South Sulawesi: The local administration called the
\nAhli Sunnah Waljamaah Islamic Mission (Yamisa), which has offered
\nfinancial assistance to locals, an illegal organization as its
\noperations have raised suspicions among locals and the
\nadministration.<\/p>\n
\"The Muslim organization has yet to be registered in the local
\nadministration, while it has promised Rp 400,000 to everyone for
\nunstated reasons,\" Muin Syam, a senior official at the local
\nadministration, said here on Thursday.<\/p>\n
He said the organization's empty promises had made local
\npeople lazy and its operations could raise confusion among them.<\/p>\n
\"Yamisa is an illegal organization and local people should not
\nbe influenced easily by its empty promises,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He said he would ask the local police to investigate the
\norganization and its activities.<\/p>\n
\"We will also summon Abdur Rachman, chairman of the
\norganization, to clarify the organization's mission in the
\nregency,\" he said.<\/p>\n
The West Nusa Tenggara administration has also condemned
\nYamisa as an illegal organization because of its unclear mission
\nin the province. The organization has recruited a number of local
\nMuslims to be its functionaries by promising them Rp 400,000 per
\nmonth. But, so far, no one has benefited financially from the
