        "content": "<p>Chinese automotive manufacturer Xpeng is reportedly looking to offer\nits developed vehicle technologies to car manufacturers, component\nsuppliers, and foreign technology companies to target new revenue\nsources beyond electric vehicle sales.<\/p>\n<p>CarsCoops reported on Tuesday that this move is part of Xpeng\u2019s\nefforts to expand its business as the company has yet to record\nprofitability. The technologies potentially offered include electrical\nand electronic vehicle architectures, cockpit systems, driver assistance\nsoftware, and the Turing artificial intelligence (AI) chip.<\/p>\n<p>Xpeng currently maintains a collaborative relationship with\nVolkswagen (VW) in China. The two companies are collaborating on the\ndevelopment of electric vehicle architectures that are already being\nimplemented in VW products.<\/p>\n<p>This opportunity is becoming increasingly attractive for Xpeng, as\nrevenue from non-vehicle sales businesses shows growth. While Xpeng\u2019s\nvehicle sales revenue remained relatively stable in the second quarter,\nrevenue from services and other businesses nearly doubled.<\/p>\n<p>Evidence of external parties utilising Xpeng\u2019s technology can be seen\nin VW\u2019s products. In March 2026, VW will begin production of its first\nvehicle developed alongside Xpeng. The ID. Unyx 08 model will utilise an\n800-volt electrical architecture with 85 kWh and 92 kWh battery options.\nThe vehicle will also feature Level 2 driver assistance systems\ndeveloped by Xpeng, rather than VW\u2019s own technology.<\/p>\n<p>Xpeng is also expanding its business into humanoid robotics through\nIRON. Small-scale production of these robots has already commenced, with\nmass production targeted to take place before the end of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Xpeng CEO, He Xiaopeng, stated that the humanoid robot business has\nthe potential to generate higher margins compared to the company\u2019s\nvehicle business. Consequently, technologies previously used solely for\nXpeng\u2019s vehicle development are being repositioned as standalone\nbusiness products, opening opportunities for the company to generate\nrevenue through technology licensing outside of car sales.<\/p>",
